#27 DZP: Find out my blood type

I'm O+

Yup, I asked my Mom yesterday and both of my parents are O+, hence why I'm O+ too!
Easy as this goal was, and I knew I was O, but didn't know + or -... but now I know!

#98 DZP: Update!

I haven't been so up-to-date with my movie watching, but here's more movies I added onto my #98:

Great movie, super intense with the fight scenes, and ya gotta love MarkyMark!

Another great movie (my Dad raved about it forever)

Sandra and Ryan are hilarious!!!

Not a Miley fan, but enjoyed the storyline

Another cute storyline :)

Two cute actors with one sexy storyline! Loved this movie!

Love me some Russel Brand!

I remember desperate times like these. Loved the book too!

Very cute family movie!

#75 DZP: Bake cupcakes like the cupcakes in Hello Cupcake!

That's right! Here's the story...

Lil Alex gave up pasta for Lent. Spaghetti practically her favorite thing to eat!!

So when she asked me to bake cupcakes for her birthday BBQ, (like everything else I baked for her in the past) I had to get creative and wanted to bake crazy cupcakes for her!

I went looking through my recipe books and came across my beloved Hello Cupcake book... and then I thought of #75 on my DZP... then *ding* it hit me...

Above is a picture from the book itself and the inspiration to make her spaghetti cupcakes!

And this picture below are my cupcakes...

So before you think I took out beef for meatballs, marinara sauce, and Parmesan for the cheese, let me explain...
Spaghetti is vanilla frosting tinted with yellow food coloring and a tad bit of chocolate powder: the fun part was icing the cakes with a small 1/8th" tip.
Meatballs are hazelnut chocolates
Spaghetti sauce is strawberry jam
Cheese topping is white chocolate

The recipe is for 10 cupcakes, but I made 18... and it calls for vanilla cake, but I made chocolate (Lil Alex's request of course). Nevertheless, it was super easy to bake and fun to create!

Practice Cupcakes... !!!

Yeah I made chocolate cupcakes with vanilla fluffy frosting, but not for no reason... but kinda.
Since I've been placed on bed rest, I've been dying to bake something. So Lil Alex's birthday BBQ was coming up and she asked me to bake some cupcakes, so these were the test cupcakes... I was trying out a new frosting and I wanted to see how sweet the chocolate cake would be with vanilla extract and the chocolate powder.

Little did I know then that I would be making chocolate cupcakes but not made to look like cupcakes!

But I thought they came out pretty :)

My Little Monkey's Room

Yes, I've nicknamed him Peanut... but I absolutely feel head over heels for all the monkeys!! I just wanted to show you what his soon-to-be nursery will (somewhat) look like!

It's Sassy's Mod Pod Pop Monkey set, and isn't it just ADORABLE!
(I simply love it, can't ya tell?)

So I have the 4 piece bedding, the extra sheets, the mobile, the blanket, the diaper bag, the changing table sheets, the lamp, the monkey rug (not shown above)... I think the only things missing are the decals and the throw pillow... but all in due time!

I even have the bouncer to go with it:

Call me monkey-crazy (monkey-insane as Alex says it) but I wanted monkeys more than baby-blue cars and airplanes. Monkeys are sooo IN right now!

You should see the stroller, the playard and the highchair!!! (maybe in another post later)

#34 DZP: No Fast Food for a Month (Part II)

Okay, so back in January I set out to start the new year without fast food, for just a month tho. Seeing how that was difficult (craving cheeseburgers and fries sooo didn't help), Alex made the suggestion of waiting till Lent to give up the greasy goodness of fast food... and I agreed and dove into an In & Out burger with animal-style fries!

Now that Lent is on, it's not as difficult, but I still crave the stuff. But the part that I didn't think about back then is this... not only will I be fast-food-free for a month, but 40 DAYS!!! I added on extra days without even thinking about it! WTH is wrong with me!?! (Yes I know I'm not a devoted Catholic, but seeing how my baby-daddy is I'll be supportive for the cause!)

But at least Alex is suffering along with me... teamwork ya know. On top of the fast food we gave up sodas too. So lots of water (which I'm supposed to consume like 6-8 bottle waters a DAY) and juices (my favs are apple juice and cranberry-combo juices)... oh and milk!

I keep telling myself I should have given up alcohol/beer for Lent... I've gone more than 40 days without that stuff already, another 40 would have been a breeze!

Once again... wish me luck!

Word of the Day 3/15/2011

Continual (adjective)

1: continuing indefinitely in time without interruption
2: recurring in steady usually rapid succession

Examples: The continual blaring of the car alarm outside made it very difficult for Jane to focus on her work that morning.

"The international community must help the Afghan government approach the task of empowering Afghan women as a continual process rather than as a single benchmark, for experience shows us that even legal equality does not translate into equal treatment." -- From an article by M. Ashraf Haidari in The Washington Times, March 9, 2010

Did You Know?: Since the mid-19th century, many grammarians have drawn a distinction between "continual" and "continuous." "Continual" should only mean "occurring at regular intervals," they insist, whereas "continuous" should be used to mean "continuing without interruption." This distinction overlooks the fact that "continual" is the older word and was used with both meanings for centuries before "continuous" appeared on the scene. The prescribed sense of "continuous" became established only in the 19th century, and it never succeeded in completely driving out the equivalent sense of "continual." Today, "continual" is the more likely of the two to mean "recurring," but it also continues to be used, as it has been since the 14th century, with the meaning "continuing without interruption."
