Now you feel sorry for Catherine's character with her father always disapproving of her and how Morris tries to take advantage of her because of her money... kind of hit a little to close to home for me, at least the Morris part. I wasn't surprised when Morris left her for California, nor was I surprised that he came back years later, when she's alone, heartbroken still and ready for revenge. Olivia de Havilland was amazing with the acting, especially back in 1949. Montgomery Clift wasn't terrible to watch ever, handsome devil him. And I loved seeing the old fashion from the 1880's.
