#87 DZPII: Take Ryan to the Beach

When asked what I wanted to do for my birthday, I came to a great decision: at least I thought so!

Take Ryan to the Beach for the First Time!!

I knew he'd love the beach, I was just a little worried about his reaction to the water: too cold, maybe knocking him down, a little scary... but he did great! Instantly loved the beach!

I packed up his play tent, several towels, beach chairs, kites, buckets, toys, shovels, sunscreen, water, hats, sunglasses... the whole nine-yards!

He wanted to go in the water, but then stopped right where the last tide would wash up, then he'd run back up to our chairs, then run down to the water, but stop and cry "No agua!" so we started to walk back up to the chairs, then "AGAIN!", so we walked back to the water..."No water!", then "Again water!"... that was about an hour of that... but he was tired and it was nap time... So poor Auntie Annette and I took turns going back and forth with Ryan.

Then his Auntie Alex & Uncle David came out and he took them down to see the ocean, and was happy as a clam! Ryan got to fly his kite, make sand castles (errr, or knock down Uncle David's sand castles), and he even dived face first in the sea! I know there are more beach trips in our future!

#33 DZP II: Meet Beck Michael Phillips

#33 DZP II: Meet Beck Michael Phillips

I finally met the little guy!
Beck took his first plane ride from Ohio all the way out west to Cali, where Beck's Daddy is originally from. Mommy and Daddy are old friends of mine, and Beck's Mommy & I are practically sisters, and at one point in our Pre-Mommy-Status we were attached at the hip!
So when she was prego with the little man, I was completely thrill for them and Ryan would have a long distance cousin!

Now I knew he was a big boy, but he's a BIG BOY! He's almost Ryan's weight and he's got those lovable chunky-chunk-legs, and his parents hit on the nail: He can rock a Tank Top!
At one point I was holding Beck on my hip and when my brat took off from our table, I had to run after him (baby on hip) and picked Ryan up from his tantrum on the ground (baby still on hip), and proceeded to carrier both boys back to the table (both on hips). That was a workout!
It's Ryan second time seeing his Auntie Julie, but aside the temper-tanrums-from-terrible-twos, he did great! It was overall a great Sunday morning, and I was excited to see my best friend & her happy family!

Love him. Period.

#15 DZP: Get professional pictures done of the 4 generations

Ok, so this one was slightly altered because my father came with us, so it's the 4 generations + Jichan (grandfather in Japanese). We took pictures at Emotion Portrait Studios/Dogma Pet Portraits (located at Newport Beach, CA) and this would be our second time going. We love David & Sylvaine! I always LOVE the pictures and I'm so glad we took Ryan and captured his 18-month-old-self!

#96 DZP: Eat at Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour

When the Brea's Farrell's opened way back when, my Mother told me stories of her trips to Farrell's and how she loved the food, and of course the ICE CREAM SUNDAES!

So Alex, Ryan, and I took a trip up there on Alex's day off, and enjoyed a family lunch out!
We've tried going there before, but the line to get in was wrapped around the corner... so needless to say we didn't go then. But the lunch was perfect. And unforunately I didn't take my snapshots (how un-Japanese of me!!) but I did take this snap of my baby and his Dodger shirt.

Light 'Em Up 2012

I came across this great website and this idea for the holidays is absolutely wonderful!
It's called Light 'Em Up! It brings out the real meaning to the season of giving, not the season of "how many [presents] are there?" (yes, that's Dudley from Harry Potter).

It's for parents to help teach the little ones about giving back to the community, appreciating others (especially the ones we take granted of: janitors, grocery check-out clerks, security guards, etc.), and how to give a little joy into people's hearts.

Lil Light o' Mine has 100 ways to "Light 'em Up!" like "Pay the toll for the car behind you", "Tape quarters to buble gum machines", "swing by your dentist or doctor's offices with treats for the whole team", and of course "hug someone". She also has great printables! Check them out!

Involve your whole family, get the friends to participate, and stay anonymous (this isn't about you remember!).

Baby Ryan: 1st Birthday Today!

My baby is 1 today.

One.

A whole year ago I gave birth to him. I still can remember it. Vividly.

He survived his first year. I survived the year. And yet when I look back, it went by way too fast. Like I was just holding him for the first time, and *blink* there he is walking around the house and blowing kisses.

They weren't lying when they all told me to cherish every moment... not to say that I haven't, but it does flash before your eyes.

Literally. I just watched a slide show of Ryan's pictures: March 30, 2011 to March 30, 2012.

Now he's a toddler, but he will always be my Baby Peanut.

My lovebug.

My Ry-Ry.

Dear Ryan,
If for ever reason when you're older and you look back on these posts, always know that you were the best thing to happen to me. Maybe the most stressful at times, but I would NEVER trade any part of it for anything in the world. You are my everything and I am blessed to be your Mom.
I wish I could keep you this small but lets have another great year, and many more to come.
With Love Forever,
Your Mommy
